Mi Yin studied and worked in Australia before she accompanied her husband to Singapore in 1991. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Honours) from the University of Hong Kong and a Master degree in Town Planning from Sydney University.
She worked in the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) from 1991 to 1999. Her last full-time appointment in the JTC was Deputy Director (Strategic Planning). She worked closely with senior management to spearhead various initiatives to improve the corporate effectiveness in the JTC.
Together with an international consultancy firm, she started the first major work process redesign project in the JTC. This experience helped generate the interest, knowledge and skills for subsequent process redesign projects that covered all major business processes. Not only did she design and facilitate workshops for senior management on various key issues, she also conducted building shared vision workshops for the senior officers in the JTC. To support the transformation effort, she designed and facilitated workshops and meetings to operationalise their share vision.
Since March 1999, Mi Yin has been assisting Ms Diane Cory and Dr Daniel Kim in their work in Singapore. Ms Diane Cory and Dr Kim are organization development consultants from the United States who have been working extensively with statutory boards and government ministries in Singapore.
Apart for supporting Ms Cory and Dr Kim, Mi Yin facilitates workshops and provides consultancy services in organizational development. In addition, she has been conducting coaching programs for educators since 2001. About 500 teachers, key personnel, vice principals have attended her coaching programs. Mi Yin is also a local adjunct facilitator of the Greenleaf Centre for Servant-Leadership (Asia).
Her clients include the Ministry of Education, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Inland Revenue Authority, the Jurong Town Corporation, Reach Family Services Centre, Parents Advisory Group – for the Internet (PAGi) and Creative O Preschoolers’ Bay.
