P.I.E.S. café - Frequently asked questions
1. What is this café about?
This café is a gift of time and space that we would like to offer to anyone in need of some reprieve from their busy and hectic lives but cannot afford to take too much time off from their busy schedules. We aim to provide a safe and hospitable space for everyone who welcomes the chance to quiet the inner chatter and restore some calm to their busy minds and restless bodies.
2. Who can attend?
Anyone who is above the age of 16 and can understand English are welcome. People who lead busy lives with no time to catch their breath may find this experience useful in helping them to slow down, take a break and learn some gentler ways of caring for their bodies and minds.
3. Will there be a lot of people there?
Participation is on a first-come-first-served basis, subject to a maximum of 30 people per session for ease of conversation and interaction.
4. What will I get to experience at this café?
At P.I.E.S. café, we aim to create a space that is relaxing and informal, a space that is different from your usual hectic environment. You are invited to relax over a cup of tea or coffee, tune in to yourselves and also connect with other people. You could be invited into some light exercise, some reading and reflection, perhaps some walking and drawing, and also some conversation with other participants.
5. What will I learn at this café?
Through the gift of time and space, you’ll learn the importance of slowing down, staying in the present and connecting to the whole of yourself, your physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual self. You’ll learn what works and what does not work for you and what you truly care about. Over time, you’ll learn to build capacities to take better care of yourself.
6. What do I have to bring?
Please bring along an open mind and an open heart to enjoy the experience! You may also like to bring along a journal for writing, your own writing materials and maybe a sketch pad and markers if you enjoy drawing.
7. Is it a religious / political gathering?
No, this is definitely not religious nor political in nature. The focus is on tuning in to ourselves, connecting with ourselves and restoring some inner calm and balance to our lives. There will be safety guidelines in place to remind participants that they should be mindful of racial, religious and political sensitivities when they are sharing so that they do not offend other participants.
8. Do I have to pay?
Participation in the Café is free. Participants who wish to make token contribution towards tea and coffee are welcome to do so,
on a voluntary basis.
For sessions where raw materials / art and craft materials are required, participants may be asked to chip in the cost of buying these materials.
For sessions held at outdoor locations like cafes and restaurants, participants will pay for any refreshments that they wish to order.
9. Do I have to come for all the sessions?

If you miss a session, you may still join us for the next session.
